Tips and Strategy

Defeating the Arch mage and Berserker

First off both the Arch mage and the Berserker are regular enemies that you can fight in the container yard.  They are extremely tough and should only be fought when you are at least level 40.  The characters I used to defeat them were Ryu (obviously), Rei, and Momo.  The Chain Formation is also very useful because then everyone has the speed of the character in front.  Instead of equipping big armor with high defense just equip the fastest armor (because defense does no good against spells and the berserker usually kills you in one shot).

Preparation for the Arch mage-
Useful Items to Have
Lightning Ring (to guard against Mylonir)
Light Clothing (to speed yourself up as much as possible)
Speed Boots (same as light clothing)
Soul Gems (so you don't die)
Useful Skills/Spells to have
Resist (give to fastest character)
Speed (speed up fastest character until he/she gets an EX turn)
War Cry (used to beef up Ryu, put it on the fastest character)
Might (again used to beef up Ryu)
Warrior Gene

Archmage-  First thing you should do is have Ryu transform into the Warrior gene (if you want splice it with gross for more hp).  Then if you have it Rei should cast resist on himself and Momo should cast speed on Rei.  Next couple of turns do the same thing except Ryu should focus and if Rei gets an extra turn you can either attack or use War Cry (if you have it).  After a few turns of focusing then Ryu should attack with Aura which should do atleast 2000 damage, if it doesn't then you are screwed since he regens 1500 hp a turn.  Now keep attacking with Aura until he is destroyed, don't bother stealing from him since all he has is a soul gem which you could buy in many different stores.

What do you get out of it?
you get about 15000 EXP for each character and I think you might get a cool item with it.

Preparation For The Berserker-
Useful Items To Have
Fire Ring (he casts a very wicked fire attack to all your characters)
Light Clothing (to speed up your characters)
Speed Boots (again to speed up your characters)
Soul Gems (to save a characters) from death)
A Lot of Ammonias
Useful Skills to Have
Resist (so one of your characters is guaranteed not to die)
Speed (to speed up a character that has steal)
Steal or Pilfer (doesn't matter which, just one or the other)
Spells to bring back characters from the dead
Warrior Gene

Berserker- The Berserker is much tougher than the Arch mage because there is no easy way to kill him, you just have to stay alive long enough to pound on him.  First turn you should have Rei (or the fastest character) use Resist so he/she doesn't die, then have Ryu ascend into the Warrior with Gross spliced into it, then have your last character (probably Momo) cast speed on Rei.  Then with Ryu cast Focus twice and then do Aura, keep doing this until he is dead or you run low on AP.  As soon as Rei gets an EX turn have him use Pilfer.  Keep using Pilfer on the EX turn and Resist on your normal turn (that way he won't die).  As soon as you steal the Aries gloves you can kill him however you want (although it is safest to keep Resisting and not turn into the Were tiger).

What Do you Get out of It?
Again lots of EXP, only 10000 this time though, Aireis gloves, and I think something else but I can't remember what it was.

The Invulnerable Rei!-
Against most anything if Rei has Resist then he can single handedly kill most anybody (except the Arch mage, and probably not the berserker either).  Simply speed him up until he gets an EX turn.  Then on his normal turns cast Resist, then on the EX turns have him attack or use some powerful skill (preferably not eating away too much AP).
Actually you can sue this with most anybody except it is a lot easier with Rei because he is naturally speedy.

Useful Gene Combos
Warrior gene with Trance and ???- This will make a warrior with all all the elemental strikes, this is useful in case you don't know what the enemy is weak against.
Miracle ??? and Gross- This makes the Mammoth, and it should have about 2000 HP too, doing a whole crap load of damage with meteor breath.
Kaiser and Failure- Mix these two to control Kaiser, although I personally see no reason to turn into Kaiser since the Warrior does a #$%^ load more damage anyways.

The Mighty Chain Formation and the Mighty Rei!-
First off have Rei train under all the masters that give you extra agility, also give him any spare swallow eyes or speed boots.  Then learn the Chain formation from Bais and put Rei in the front.  Towards the end of the game your whole party should be fighting with at least 100 agility!  This is especially useful because then you can stick Ryu under any of those slow masters and not have to worry about agility.  So in other words if you do it right all your characters gain a crap load of agility and everyone else but Rei and master anyone and not loose agility!

Were tiger when is it useful?-
The Were tiger is specifically useful when fighting regualr enemies instead of bosses.  The reason I say that is that normally when you fight a boss Ryu changes into a Dragon and if both Ryu and Rei are transformed that leaves only one person to heal and revive people.  Then what happens if that person dies?  Actually I still use the Were tiger on bosses, but only when I know I have things under control.  Also NEVER use the Were tiger move unless your 3rd character has Influence, because otherwise you are risking your other characters' lives.
