Best: Feminine" |
During a tiring day of being the Hinata Apartments Manager
and endless hours of studying, Keitaro Urashima collapses on
the floor of his room and falls asleep. But... after he awakens
the rent money for Hinata has vanished! Everyone is a suspect
but who could possibly be the culprit? Everyone seems to have
an alibi, but nothing gets past Dective Kitsune!
|
"Ahh, why is Su in my bed?!" Asked Keitaro. A rather
interesting question too. Kaolla has been acting strange as
of late, strange for even her. The Hinata sort of ignores
this, but wait what does she mean by big brother? Is Su having
flashbacks from the past? Or is she homesick? And who is this
strange and mysterious woman that is attacking people at night?
|
For a while
now Naru has seemingly been wondering about Tokyo U. Then she
wins a contest and becomes a singer! She quickly creates an enormous
amount of fans and loyal followers with her magnificant voice.
But does that mean that she has given up on Tokyo U? Will she
ever even return to the Hinata Apartments to see her friends?
|
Motoko has
always been a brilliant swordswoman and a very strong female role-model.
So what is wrong with her now? All of a sudden her sword skills
have been lacking and she has not been at the same strength as
she usually is. Is it because of this keen new fashion sense?
Or is something else distracting her? |
After
Keitaro discovers the Hinata rent money has vanished he panics
like there is no tommarow. But Kitsune, being the smooth gal that
she is, takes it upon herself to discover who the thief is. Keitaro
and Kitsune investigate all of the Hinata residents to find the
culprit. But everyone seems to have an alibi. They almost give
up until they realize that Naru is hiding something! Jumping to
conclusions, the Hinata residents all decide to run after Naru
to get the money back. All except Keitaro of course. So after
several minutes of running around the Hinata residence chacing
after Keitaro and Naru, Aunt Haruka interupts by revealing the
culprit. The culprit is, of course, Kitsune! The good ol' theif
dective trick! |
For
starters we see Kaolla Su after she accidentally snuck into Keitaro's
bed. Before she awakens she says big brother. Curious
as to what is going on, Keitaro begins to investigate Su. He even
finds out that there has been numerous sitings of a mysterious
woman in strange clothing attacking people with a white alligator!
Keitaro, of course, thinks that it is propostrous that Kaolla
is the one attacking people in the streets. That is, until he
actually sees Su turn into an adult form. But before he has any
time to react, he is kidnapped by Su's older sister. It turns
out that Su thinks that Keitaro is her big brother, and Su's sister
decides to knock a little sense into her. The have a little battle
and Su returns to normal, and realizes that she doesn't have to
grow up so quickly. |
Naru wins a
contest and becomes a pop singer. She creates a large audience
of loyal fans and loves what she does. Naru finds that singing
is a great way to exress her feelings and just an overall fun
thing to do. But she is overbooked and is always busy. She quickly
misses the Hinata Apartments and her braincramping studies. So
she hides from Kintaro (her manager) and retreats to the Hinata
and back to her friends. And after a talk with Keitaro she accidentally
thinks that he doesn't want her to come back. Naru gets very upset
and clobbers Keitaro into the stars. And a man in the bushes captures
the beautiful moment on camera! After this picture hits the public,
Naru is quickly rushed out of show business and back to the Hinata. |
Due to some
misfortunate mishaps, Motoko has to borrow some clothing from
one of the Hinata residents. After trying several different outfits
on, she decides to pick an old-fashioned ladies dress. After walking
around town with Keitaro a bit, all of the guys go crazy over
how cute she is. Soon after Motoko returns home, the Hinata realizes
that some things have been missing and notices that one of Su's
inventions flew away with it all! After a little investigation
they find the evil robotic turtles that have been stealing their
things. Soon Motoko conquers her fears of feminity and attacks
the massive beast with her sword. Destroying the mechanical catastrophe
and returning her capabilities back to her healthy normal. |
These kinds of episodes is what Love Hina is all about. It blends
humor, serious romance, and just plain wackyfun all in one episode.
Although it was kind of obvious that Kitsune was the real culprit,
the show still had you guessing until the very end. I liked the
humor in this ep, but it is mostly the sameold sameold. Not that
thats bad, because it is still funny, but it doesn't add a whole
lot more to the show. What I really loved about this epsiode,
however, was the mini romance inside. Naru was looking for something
the entire episode which turned out to be the picture of Naru
and Keitaro. The fact that she hid it from everyone really showed
that she cares for Keitaro much more than what she makes him out
to believe. That and it also shows that she really felt something
special during the incidental vacation with Keitaro. Overall,
not one of the greatest, but certainly close. 8.5/10 |
Another
great episode just because of the variety and creativity. And
it is another one of those well-rounded episodes that has mostly
everything. Except that this one is rather lacking in the romance
category. But, if you are a big fan of Kaolla Su then you should
definatly enjoy this episode because its all about Kaolla! Plus
there is a whole lot of interesting backstory about Su's past
and stuff like that. Overall it is a very good episode. I liked
seeing Kaolla's sister and I liked the encovering of a bit of
her past. All in all, this episode had me laughin, but kept my
attension to the interesting storyline, as well. 9.0/10 |
Of all the
episodes I have seen this one is probably my least favorite. Its
not bad, don't get me wrong, but it is certainly not as good as
what I have come to expect from such a great show. For starters,
and this is a pet-peeve of mine, is that the songs she sings are
not only in japanese but also sung by the original voice of Naru.
What does that mean? Well, basically it means that she sounds
nothing like she really does. I suppose that is not too big a
deal, but still annoying. My second spite against this episode
is that I find it very hard to believe that someone could just
jump into show-business like that. I know that this kind of thing
is just part of the Hinata charm, but it is still rather unbelievable.
(personally I find flying turtles more believable lol). My last
major gripe is that this episode provides really no advancement
to the story. Keitaro and Naru have yet another fight and nothing
really happens further to them. Overall, I would have given this
ep a 7, but this quote upped it a little, "Wow, taking a
hot tub while dining on live turtle. Thats very chic." A
classic indeed :). The rest, unfortunatly though, is not. 7.5/10 |
Even though
Motoko is not really one of my favorite characters, the episodes
in which she is leading are certainly excellent! For starters
it is just unbelievably cute seeing Motoko all shy and girly when
she has to wear a dress. Next, I found it great how she began
to and doubt in her own abilities, but then she conquered her
fears and realized that her true skill is not found from her physical
appearence but beneath the surface. Lastly and naturally I would
like to say that this episode has a lot of great humor and enough
charm to fill two or three episodes! The MechaTamas were certainly
a charm if I have ever seen one. Oh, I almost forgot one thing.
This episode shows a bit of flashbacks between Motoko and her
big sister, and possibly it is a little forshadwing of a more
in-depth episode of Motoko and her sister? Overall, a wonderful
episode for fans of Motoko and fans of just plain great episodes.
I just can't seem to think of a single bad aspect of this episode.
Its not quite perfect, but certainly close. 9.5/10 |
