| Graphics and Animation - 8.5 This movie was one of the first japanese animations that I ever saw. The movie itself is rather old so you can tell that the animation is not quite as smooth as today's animation, but that also adds to its attraction. The characters are very well drawn, especially facial expressions. The animation of some of the fight scenes is very quality and fun to watch. |
| Story - 9.0 The movie has a very interesting story. There are two worlds, the human world and the black (demon) world. Each race has its own special powers, the demon world with their physic skills and the humans with their technology. The story is very interesting and contains a few very unexpected plot twists along the way. For most of the story you are following around two people Taki and Makie, Taki is a human black guard, and Makie is a woman from the black world who also is a black guard. As they are paired as partners it is very interesting to watch as they go through various struggles and how their relationship develops. |
| Characters - 8.5 The characters in this movie are very unique, each with their own goals and reasons for what they are doing. Each character has a specific and unique ability that is shown during their battle(s). It is very fascinating to watch the main characters change and grow after each battle or after they discover new about the plot of the whole story. And you have to admire a man who has a gun so powerful that the kick back puts him through walls. |
| Overall - 9.0 I personally very much enjoyed this movie. It has a lot of good action and interesting characters. The whole idea of a demon world and a race of people with special abilities I found to be very interesting. Although it is never really explained where these powers come from, it does not take anything away from the movie. The story is very fun to follow, just when you think you know everything that is going on things change and all of a sudden everything makes sense. The fights between the good guys and bad guys are very well done, there is not a lot of wasting time, just right down to the fighting. |
